~ VINTAGE MAGAZINE COVERS~ AND MORE~

Found it with the Magazine cover images....that I had Googled.

When I saw this cover ( below~ right ) ....it reminded me immediately of how my brother and I would LOVE to build " forts" all the time, we just loved em.! ..

One time we built one the size of our ENTIRE basement...we had every blanket, sheet, box, boards and odds and ends...in house....it was a maze of rooms....we were so proud of it.

UNTIL.....my mother came down to use the washing machine.....and WHAT a surprise she got...she could not even step off the bottom stair of the basement stairs....!

We wondered why she did not want to CRAWL thru the rooms to the washing machine....( smiling) she did not agree.

Dear Rose,

How funny, I can almost see the look on surprise on your Mother's face!

Love the magazine covers...seems like they allow the viewer to focus on the cover that tells it's own story...now there so much verbage on the cover...it just kind of messes with my mind...

BUT I'm lovin' yours!

Thanks,

Sandy

Sandy, it was kinda funny..but unfortunately, we had to "downsize" a bit so that she could find her way to where she needed to be.

Fun while it latsted.

Debbie, I don't remember building them outside...but we sure had lots of them ( in the winter mostly) around the house...and in the basement.
We played outside until we heard our mothers calling us for dinner, and after I dried the dishes...I was outside again until dark...all us neighborhoods kids played outside ...during the winter too...but moreso of course in the summer.

Fond memories..

Hi Rose~
I really enjoyed seeing these magazine covers. Love the graphics! I was a fort builder, too. we would stretch the blankets and sheets out over chairs and huddle underneath. If I did that today, they would need to get a crane to get me out-LOL! Loved the pictures of your beautiful lace curtains!

Joyce...thank you ..I do love that pair of Antique curtians.

OH YES, regarding FORTS....had to have chairs...sheets, blankets...old tarps...over the clothesline too....and beyond !

We had clothelines in the basement too..( for when the weather outside was frightful )
My mother never had a automatic clothes DRYER until she was about 55 years old...can you imagine ????
My FATHERS idea being...that if you can AIR DRY the clothes for FREE...( indoors or outdoors) why in the world would he want to..... buy a dryer.... AND THEN use electricity to do it. Never mind that mom had to climb up and down the basement stairs about 4 or 5 times a day...when all 9 of us
( including grandparents) were living at home....and she would have to carry the clothes baskets up the stairs and out to the yard to hang clothes outside.
( MIND YOU... he NEVER did a load of wash in his life, so what did he care about the CONVENIENCE of a dryer ? )
Gosh...some latent anger issues here I guess. Sorry.

But we SURE had fun making our forts...some had to come down the same day they went up..because my mother OFTEN needed the sheets or blankets we were using...but we were undaunted...we would just design another one of some sort. It kept us out of our mothers hair I'm sure when we were little. There were five of us kids.

Thanks for coming by...you have a post and question on your blog from me.

Hurry back,
Rose
